Day 26

This was our view from the morning...we were hard working on all of our little assignments that we had to complete for the weekend...and we all became very overwhelmed..by such little work...so we took a brain break and we decided that we were going to go for a drive to the thrift store and gas station....what ended up happening was we drove to the reserve we had visited before for the Fundraiser dinner..in hopes to find some mittens or moccasins....

We arrived at the gas station at the reserve....after getting some directions from the police station...we literally arrived at a little shack with one gas pump...Sara did not have her gas card...but because she had her tax exempt the elderly lady asked one of the other fellas if it would be okay to use theirs...he said of course...how nice of them...we ended up saving around 12-15 dollars...:)...When talking with them we asked if there were any other stores around the area...they said there was a convenience store that sold a little more than the one that we were in.....this basically told us we were not getting our mittens or moccasins if we did not have a Cookum who lived in the immediate area haha....

Words cannot describe the poverty we witnessed...so when we visit again, we will take more pictures....Sara took this picture, she thought it was very cute of the elderly woman to write this and put it up in her store..

When we arrived home..Sara received the sketch from the man who is creating our class rings for us...Susy and her were going bonkers when they saw it was exactly what they asked for :)...We cannot wait to show this beauty off at grad party (hopefully it will be in by then!!)

Sometimes people forget where we are....like the people from Telus Mobility...or the people whining about -15 to -20 weather...and sometimes people forget how scary it is outside of our cabin at night....this is a beautiful picture...but if you read Sioux Lookout legends (google it if you're bored:))...for the exact spot our cabin is sitting on..you may not want to wander too far off at night ;)
